Salt Lake Area Chapter

Mountain after a storm.

Leaders Needed

The Salt Lake Area Chapter needs event organizers, alliance and ally coordinators, website maintainers, and service project planners. We need bloggers and artists, gardeners and teachers. We need trailblazers and people who want to make a difference. If you would like to help lead the Salt Lake Area Chapter, email us. Thanks!

The Salt Lake Area Chapter of LDSES, is building a culture of stewardship along the Wasatch Front. Stewardship touches every aspect of our lives, and can feel overwhelming. Because we can’t do everything at once, the Salt Lake Area Chapter is focused on restoring Great Salt Lake and improving air quality with a community of like-minded stewards.

Restoring Great Salt Lake

We live in the arid west, but Utah public service customers use more water per-capita than those of any other state. Water policies and drought have brought the Great Salt Lake to a historic low. Poor water practices endanger not just the vast migrations of birds that depend on its wetlands for food, but our own respiratory health.

We can choose to manage our yards, farms, ranches, commercial properties, and public spaces in ways that allow more water to flow to Great Salt Lake.

Volunteer Service

LDSES Volunteers at University of Utah Welcome Week 2023

Service is the bedrock of stewardship. Whether helping clear waterways, picking up litter, clearing invasive weeds, or preparing food for those in need, our personal actions make a difference, and are examples to those around us.

Find the latest service opportunities on our calendar. If you would like to organize or publicize a service project, please contact us.
